Sports Gist: Super Eagles Have A New Coach

Amodu Shuaibu who once coached the Super eagles of Nigeria has been announced today as the new Super Eagles coach. He was appointed Head Coach of the Nigerian national side for the first time in April 2008, and was sacked on 6 February 2010. Despite reaching third place with the national side in the 2010 African Cup of Nations, he was then sent to serve as the coach of the Nigerian B-team (Home-Based Eagles) and Lars Lagerbäck was installed in his place before the 2010 World Cup.

Amodu also led Nigeria to the AFCON bronze medal at Mali 2002 and Angola 2010. This was his second tenure. Other accomplishments include Nigerian FA Cup titles with BCC Lions of Gboko and El Kanemi Warriors on multiple occasions. He has also managed Shooting Stars of Ibadan, BCC Lions of Gboko, Orlando Pirates of South Africa and Sharks F.C of Portharcourt.

Amodu was appointed technical director of Nigeria's national teams in May 2013. In November he was named Technical Director of Bendel Insurance F.C., which includes being in charge of the club's youth development.

The Nigerian Football Federation, announced Amodu's appointment today October 16th after an emergency meeting which held last night in Abuja. The re-appointment is good news for him as he replaces the former coach Stephen Keshi to ensure qualification for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations finals and possibly lead them to a second consecutive Nations Cup victory.

I personally believe this is the only way this decision will be justified. Lets wait and see.
